Rye Brook Residents Form New Community Group
RYE BROOK, NEW YORK, December 2, 2003 - -
A group of Rye Brook residents have formed Rye Brook Together, a new local action group. Rye Brook Together believes in a forward-thinking, inclusive and fiscally responsible approach to the issues that concern Village residents. "Rye Brook has lost its sense of community," said Ken Berman, the group’s chairman. "Our Village includes two school districts, young families, senior citizens and a number of homeowners associations. We need to work together - progress will come from consensus. Rye Brook Together wants to foster that approach in dealing with issues that affect the entire community."
Rye Brook Together is made up of residents from all areas of the Village. The group believes that engaged Village officials who are willing to explore new ideas and address the vital issues that concern all Rye Brook residents in a forthright and open manner is an essential element in building trust and credibility in Village government.
The group would like to encourage greater awareness of important issues and broader participation in Village government. Open meetings will be held around the Village beginning in January to enable residents to discuss the issues, meet members of the organization and become more active in Village matters.
Officers of the group are: Ken Berman, Chairman; George Varbero, Vice Chairman; Susan Glass, Secretary; and Tony Tempesta, Treasurer.
The group will run a slate of candidates in the forthcoming Village elections and invites all interested Rye Brook residents to become members. Interested residents can visit the group’s website at www.ryebrooktogether.org or e-mail the group at info@ryebrook.org for more information.
